NordMin has granted NOK 2 million to the “Platinum Probe Project” which is a research program that is coordinated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (“NTNU”) in Trondheim, Norway, and where Nordic Mining is a partner. The aim of the program is to explore and define the genesis of the Ni-PGE deposits in the Reinfjord intrusion that was discovered by Nordic Mining by drilling in 2012. The Reinfjord mineralisation is a new type of Ni-PGE deposit that has interesting research implications and that may have a significant economic potential.

The project will run till September 2016 and will involve both field mapping and a drilling program. Three master theses will be written in connection with this work. The University of Århus in Denmark and MI GeoConsulting OY in Rovaniemi, Finland are also partners in the project.

NordMin is a network for education, research and innovation in the Nordic countries with the aim of strengthening sustainable mining and mineral exploration in the Nordic countries including Greenland. NordMin is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and projects are meant to have a strong industry component.
