50-tons DD-washer in place

A large investment for Nordic Paper

At the papermill in Bäckhammar, Sweden, Nordic Paper just lifted in their new drum displacer washer that weighs about 50 tons.

This is the third large investment Nordic Paper has made in short time. The DD-washer makes the pulp cleaner, wich improve the quality and makes the papermill more energy efficient. During the past weekend the crane was put in place that lifted the gigantic drum displacer.
– The installation work has proceeded well and the assembly work is now in a very intense stage, says Lars Rosén, director of production.
He also says that this is positive for the whole company and he expect that the DD-washer will be fully operating in the end of february.
