Electronic nose makes housekeeping easier Electrolux and Nordic Sensor Technologies to collaborate on the development of tomorrow's household appliances Electrolux and NST, Nordic Sensor Technologies, have signed an agreement to develop and implement NST's Electronic Nose for household appliances. The current potential for using intelligent sensors in the home to facilitate housework is already tremendous, and is continuing to grow with the advances into the home of inexpensive computer power and networks. The Electronic Nose may come to be used in refrigerators, ovens and microwaves to dishwashers and washing machines. The first project is already under way. "Intelligent sensors are part of the kind of cutting edge technology that is currently used almost exclusively in industry. In our partnership with Electrolux, we will be using this know-how to develop a technology that is simple enough for anyone to use and that can make housework easier for many people," says Andreas Bunge, Nordic Sensor Technologies.
