Nordisk Renting builds Finnish courthouses for MSEK 185 in co-operation with the Finnish State Nordisk Renting Oy has reached an agreement with Finnish construction company Lemminkäinen Abp regarding the construction of two courthouses and police headquarters, one in Reso outside Turku and one in Idensalmi, central Finland. The total investment will be MEUR 20, equivalent to approximately MSEK 185. The Finnish State has signed an agreement to lease both properties for 25 years. The Finnish State is making a strategic choice in not tying up the capital required to construct the buildings under its own management, and opting for a long-term leasing solution instead. The two buildings will encompass just over 13,000 square metres, the majority being office space. The buildings are scheduled for completion during the summer of 2004. "We are now expanding our collaboration with the Finnish State and Lemminkäinen, as we already own three newly constructed police headquarters and courthouses," says Reinhold Geijer, Chief Executive of the Swedish parent company, Nordisk Renting AB. "We work exclusively with financially strong, long-term tenants, and the Finnish State fits into this category well. The judicial system is part of the state's core operation, so signing long-term leasing contracts is only natural."
