RBS Nordisk Renting has signed a contract with the Regionarkivet regional archive service regarding an archive building in Vänersborg, north of Gothenburg. A 25-year leasing agreement has been reached by the parties. Skanska will be constructing the building, which is scheduled for occupancy in October 2007.

The property will house Regionarkivet for Västra Götaland and the City of Gothenburg. Regionarkivet stores archive material from the county council, hospitals, schools and other institutions in the region, for instance. The building will be an example of a modern, cost-effective archive building. The property will be 1 kilometre east of Vänersborg centre, close to the approach to the town, and will have an area of 4, 400 square metres. “We are very pleased to be developing a relationship with Regionarkivet. The modern new archive will also serve as a fine example for other archive buildings,” says Reinhold Geijer, Chief Executive of RBS Nordisk Renting. The building will comprise archive storage as well as an office, a lecture room, a library and communal areas. The archive will be a public facility open to citizens, civil servants and researchers. Approximately 10 people will work at the archive building to begin with.
