Norse Energy Corp. ASA (“NEC” ticker Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway; “NSEEY” ticker U.S. OTC) is pleased to announce the issuance today of the draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). A public comment period will run through December 12, 2011 followed by a review before issuance of the final SGEIS. “Release of the draft SGEIS is a welcome step towards shale drilling in New York State and is a strong indication of the DEC’s determination to move the SGEIS process forward,” commented Norse CEO Mark Dice.

The DEC also confirmed that its proposed regulations to implement the SGEIS will be issued in early October with the public comment period to run concurrently with the SGEIS. “The concurrent development of the regulations to implement the SGEIS will allow the industry to hit the ground running and move quickly toward successful shale development, once the SGEIS is issued,” concluded Dice.

Norse Energy has total contingent resources of ~3.9 TCF (~713 MMBOE) at the end of 2010. The Company has a significant land position of 180,000 net acres in New York State of which ~130,000 are in the Marcellus and Utica shale fairway.
