Norse Energy Corp. ASA (“NEC” ticker Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway; “NSEEY” ticker U.S. OTC) is pleased to announce that Norse Executive Vice President, Dennis Holbrook, was recently a featured commentator on two Public Radio programs, News Radio WBEN and statewide TV Station YNN’s “The Capital Tonight”.  Shortly after Holbrook’s first interview on Public Radio he provided commentary and answered listeners’ inquiries on WBEN, addressing issues related to oil and gas drilling for shale development using high volume hydraulic fracturing.  He subsequently appeared on The Capital Tonight” on YNN TV and then on ”The Capital Pressroom”, a statewide public radio program based in Albany.

In each interview, Holbrook commented on the many misperceptions in the public arena regarding hydraulic fracturing being utilized in pursuit of natural gas deposits in the Marcellus Shale in nearby Pennsylvania and elsewhere.  As previously reported, the draft final Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) providing the rules for high volume hydraulic fracturing in New York State  was issued in preliminary form on July 8, 2011, to be supplemented before a sixty day public comment period begins in August.

Holbrook, who is also a director of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York, emphasized the industry’s historically strong environmental safety record in New York State and the expectation that  “ … the SGEIS once issued in final form will serve as a roadmap throughout the natural gas industry for safe and environmentally friendly shale development.”

“Once the SGEIS process is completed, and issues of safeguarding the environment have been thoroughly addressed, the focus should rightfully be on the tremendous economic opportunity presented by New York’s potentially abundant natural gas deposits in both the Marcellus and Utica Shale formations,” concluded Holbrook, whose views were also recently published in an Opinion article in, The Ithaca Journal, a regional newspaper.

Norse Energy has total contingent resources of ~3.9 TCF (~700 MMBOE) at the end of 2010. The Company has a significant land position of ~180,000 net acres in New York State of which ~130,000 acres are strategically located in the Marcellus and Utica Shale fairways.
