Norse Energy Corp. ASA (“NEC” ticker code OSE – NEC, Oslo, Norway, U.S OTCQX symbol “NSEEY”) is pleased to announce that the Company has met its goal of reaching the daily production threshold rate of 12,000 Mcf (2,137 BOE) by the end of 2009 in the US. “After delivering on our promise to replace in 2008 the Medina production sold at the end of 2007, the Company set as a goal to double its overall production to a rate of 12,000 Mcf (2,137 BOE) per day by the close of 2009. It is with great pleasure that I report that we have met our year end production goal for 2009, in the meantime also achieving a new production record”, noted Norse Energy CEO, Øivind Risberg. The growth in production is a combination of recently completed pipeline connections to new wells in addition to the return of existing wells that were awaiting regulatory approvals. The increase is almost exclusively attributable to Norse’s continuing success in the Herkimer sandstone in central New York State. The Company estimates that the Herkimer Formation is a potential 0.5 Tcf (90 MMBOE) play. Norse reached this new high with several wells still waiting to be connected to its gas gathering pipeline system. These wells are anticipated to be brought on line in early 2010 when the current pipeline extension is scheduled for completion. In the US, the Company expects to drill 30 additional horizontal Herkimer wells in 2010 and has set another target of doubling its production to 24,000 Mcf (4,275 BOE) per day by the close of 2010, as it explores options for developing its 180,000 acres in New York State of which 130,000 acres has significant Marcellus and Utica shale potential. US production in the fourth quarter 2009 averaged approximately 6,500 Mcf (1,160 BOE) per day as the production ramp-up occurred towards the end of the quarter.
