FOAA Anesthesia Services’ Srinivas Sharma to Educate Anesthesiology Residents about Private Practices at Mid-Atlantic Anesthesia Research Conference

FOAA Anesthesia Services, the Mid-Atlantic division of North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), announced today that Srinivas Sharma, MD, will be a featured panelist at the Mid-Atlantic Anesthesia Research Conference (MAARC) to be held April 26, 2014 at the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

The panel will begin at 3:30pm during the career session of the event. Dr. Sharma will be accompanied by Dr. Amar Setty of Good Samaritan Hospital located in Baltimore, MD along with an academic medicine panelist. During the session, the panelists will be relating to anesthesiology residents and fellows on the process of transitioning into a career as an anesthesiologist.

Insights that will be explored include:

  • Considerations residents should be aware of while transitioning to employment
  • The pros and cons of anesthesiologist employment options
  • Interview tips

“As strong advocates of anesthesiology research and education, FOAA and NAPA are delighted to participate in MAARC,” said Dr. Sharma. “It is critical for practices to invest in educational opportunities and career development for anesthesiologists, residents and medical students in order to strengthen the future of anesthesiology.”

Dr. Sharma was recently appointed as Anesthesia Director at Advanced Surgery Center of Bethesda in Maryland. During his tenure with FOAA, he has also held positions at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, both in Virginia.

The first annual Mid-Atlantic Anesthesia Research Conference is tailored to residents, fellows and medical students from Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. The conference includes medically challenging case and abstract presentations of research complement sessions designed to exchange ideas about the specialty of anesthesia. In addition, Dr. Peter Pronovost, Sr. Vice President for Patient Safety and Quality, Director of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Johns Hopkins Medicine, is the keynote speaker.
