MEDIA ADVISORY: North American Partners in Anesthesia Donates 600 Pounds of Food to San Diego Rescue Mission
North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the largest single-specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the U.S., recently donated 600 pounds of non-perishable food to the San Diego Rescue Mission in San Diego, CA.
Corporate citizenship, community service and charitable activities are a hallmark of NAPA’s core values; the organization strongly advocates green initiatives, including food recovery, recycling and the minimization of waste. The donation resulted from the availability of surplus food products from a NAPA-sponsored corporate event. Rather than allow the food to be discarded, NAPA directed the high-quality food be repurposed as a donation to the mission, where it would benefit local citizens in need.
The donation benefitted 400 men, women and children that participate in the San Diego Rescue Mission’s life-saving programs. These programs include:
- Residential Recovery Program: A 12-month program including mental health and substance abuse therapy, educational classes and the constant oversight needed to create a healthier, more stable existence.
- Emergency Shelter for Women and Children: Provides women and children housing, nutritious meals and clothing.
- Recuperative Care: The Recuperative Care Unit is one of the fewest places in the San Diego area to provide a place for homeless individuals who have recently been released from the hospital but still need proper medical attention.
- Transitional Housing: 2nd Avenue Transitional Housing is a multi-phase transitional housing program designed for single adults working towards self-sufficiency.
