NAPA Anesthesiologist Dr. Musa Tangoren Helps Citizens of Monroe County, PA Shed 6,000 Pounds
North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) anesthesiologist Musa Tangoren, MD, recently led the 3rd Annual Biggest Winner Challenge at NAPA’s partner hospital site, Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, PA.
This year’s event had over 370 participants and featured the program’s first-ever teen challenge, specifically created for teens ages 12-19. As the challenge’s founder, Dr. Tangoren successfully led this year’s participants to a 2,133 pound weight loss. Combined with prior years, this year’s losses contributed to a total of over 6,000 pounds shed since the challenge’s inception in April of 2014. Pocono Medical Center held the program’s annual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, part of the medical center’s campus.
“It is essential that we continue to educate our community on the importance of embracing one’s health,” said Dr. Tangoren. “I wanted teens to become involved because there is a growing concern about the increasing incidence of obesity and diabetes in this population – and the best way to a lifetime of health is by developing healthy habits early in life.”
The Biggest Winner Challenge, a part of Pocono Medical Center’s Healthy Living Program, is a 6-month drug and supplement-free healthy lifestyle program aimed at empowering participants to achieve a healthier, happier lifestyle through smarter eating habits, weight loss and physical activity. Dr. Tangoren, along with other dedicated Pocono Medical Center staff and professionals, directs and coaches the participants throughout their entire 6-month journey. Further guidance is provided through motivational and educational talks by expert dieticians, nutritionists and physicians.
Musa Tangoren, MD, is a board-certified practicing anesthesiologist. He attended medical school at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. He went on to fulfill his surgical and anesthesia residency at Hahnemann University Hospital.
