North American Partners in Anesthesia Celebrates its CRNA’s During National Nurse Anesthetist Week
North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the largest single-specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the United States, joins the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) in celebrating the contributions of nurse anesthetists across the country during “National CRNA Week”.
This year, NAPA established a special recognition program, “NAPA Loves Its CRNAs” to honor the contributions of its CRNAs for their accomplishments, professionalism and unwavering commitment to patient care. NAPA CRNAs were nominated by their supervisors and peers, accompanied by a descriptor of the qualities that embodied each CRNA’s contributions. The nomination list, which included well over 100 CRNAs, was published on NAPA Connect, the organization’s internal communications portal. In addition to this recognition, each nominee will receive a gift card as a token of appreciation. To augment this NAPA-wide program, each clinical site at which NAPA serves held its own local celebration.
“At NAPA, we truly appreciate our CRNAs, their outstanding dedication to patient care and the value they bring to our organization,” said John Di Capua, CEO of NAPA. “Our CRNAs’ commitment to excellence and patient safety has enabled our organization to enhance the service experience provided to our patients and partners. National Nurse Anesthetist Week is a wonderful initiative to acknowledge nurse anesthetists throughout the country for their integral role in the anesthesia community.”
AANA’s 17th annual National CRNA Week, held from January 24 to January 30, 2016 features the theme “Making a Difference, One Patient at a Time” which reflects every CRNA’s dedication to their patients before, during and after surgery.
National CRNA Week is the AANA’s annual celebration in honoring the nation’s nearly 50,000 CRNAs and student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs), who safely and cost-effectively provide approximately 40 million anesthetics each year. CRNAs were the first professional group to provide anesthesia in the United States and are the oldest recognized group of advanced practice registered nurse specialists in the country, with a history that spans back to the Civil War. CRNAs practice in every setting where anesthesia is available and are the sole anesthesia professionals in the vast majority of rural hospitals. Their responsibilities include administering anesthetics, monitoring vital signs and helping ensure millions of patients receive the safest anesthesia care possible.
