Creates Forum for Online Dialogue, Sharing of Best Practices in Quality Care

Melville, NY – April 22, 2013 – North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the largest single specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the United States, today officially launched its new blog as part of the company’s commitment to quality patient care. NAPA’s blog is accessible through its corporate website by visiting: http://www.napaanesthesia.com/news/blogs/.

New content will post every week, covering ideas, news and perspectives relevant to hospital executives, patients, physicians and surgeons. Tackling issues that affect patient care, NAPA will bring fresh ideas to the online conversation by enlisting contributors from various areas of the NAPA organization, including senior management and anesthesia leadership teams. Late breaking news or cutting edge developments will drive more frequent posts. In addition, the blog has interactive features allowing for comments and sharing through social media.

The blog is concentrated in several core areas, which include:

  • Health care reform
  • Patient-centered care
  • Anesthesia education
  • Cost Savings
  • Clinical best practices
  • Pain management
  • Strategic relationships with health care facilities

“With the enormous changes facing the health care industry, everyone seems to have questions and concerns,” said Timothy Dowd, M.D., Managing Partner and CEO at North American Partners in Anesthesia. “By launching this blog, NAPA is able to offer a forum to the health care community and patients to dialogue on relevant and impactful ideas and solutions. The blog will draw on the practical knowledge of our organization, which understands patient needs and the challenges that our industry is faced with today. We expect this new online resource to be a place to share best practices, spur innovation and stay connected with peers, industry leaders and patients.”

The first post, penned by Harold Kim, M.D., a NAPA anesthesiologist and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center delves into the process of perioperative evaluation of sleep apnea. Dr. Kim’s blog describes the screening process for patients at risk for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and the potential severity of the OSA risk in patients.
