North American Partners in Anesthesia’s Linda Shore-Lesserson to Present at ASA ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2013 Conference
North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) announced today that one of its leading anesthesiologists, Linda Shore-Lesserson, M.D., F.A.S.E., will be a featured speaker at the American Society of Anesthesiologist’s (ASA) ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2013 Conference to be held October12-16, 2013 in San Francisco, CA. NAPA will also support the event as an exhibitor at booth #1240 and as a host at the conference’s Welcome & Wine Reception.
Dr. Shore-Lesserson, Director of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, and Professor of Anesthesiology at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine in Hempstead, NY, will present on the topic “Strategies for Blood Conservation in Cardiovascular Surgery Patients.” The presentation will give the audience a glimpse into the hematologic management of patients for cardiovascular surgery. Other subjects pertaining to the topic that will be discussed include: heparin management, heparin resistance, anti-thrombin use, pro-coagulant agents, point-of-care monitoring of hemostasis for bleeding, and management of anti-platelet drugs.
“Patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery have a complex array of hematologic conditions that require attention in their preoperative state and during the perioperative period,” said Dr. Shore Lesserson. “It is important to educate clinicians on the increased risks of thrombosis during surgery in patients with cardiovascular disease and how to balance that risk.”
