North American Partners in Pain Management Opens Long Island’s First Outpatient Pain Management Mental Health Center
North American Partners in Pain Management (NAPPM), a division of North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), is proud to announce the opening of A Second Chance Center, Long Island’s first outpatient pain management mental health center. A Second Chance Center, directed by Maryn Sloane, MD, uses multiple modalities and leading-edge practices to help patients suffering from chronic pain with emotional, behavioral, dependency and addiction issues, which can include chronic opioid and illicit drug dependence and addiction, as well as anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia and migraine headaches. A Second Chance Center is located in Syosset Hospital at 221 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset, NY.
“The relationship between pain and mental health is complex, with psychological distress worsening physical pain,” said Dr. Sloane. “To successfully treat each patient, it is essential that we treat the whole person with behavioral health integrated into the care plan. At A Second Chance Center, our goal is to provide an individualized, interdisciplinary approach to improve psychological and physical functioning and overall quality of life.”
Serving Long Island since 1996, NAPPM excels in treating acute and chronic pain from head to toe with innovative strategies that help patients regain their quality of life. The practice, led by John Stamatos, MD, offers a comprehensive array of, minimally invasive therapies, surgical treatments and pain modalities delivered in convenient out-patient and in-patient settings to patients throughout Long Island. The practice’s board-certified pain specialists have advanced expertise in musculoskeletal and nerve pain disorders, including pain relief treatments for specific pain areas and medical conditions affecting the head and neck, back, joints and feet. With subspecialty training and significant experience in diagnosing and treating the pain of cancer, sports and other injuries, CRPS, RSD, mental health issues and more, patients trust NAPPM for a holistic approach to personalized treatment, by physicians who are at the forefront of interventional pain care.
Dr. Sloane is a board certified psychiatrist and board-eligible for addiction psychiatry. She has expertise in the fields of co-management of chemical dependence in chronic pain patients. Dr. Sloane is a published author on the subject of nonpharmacological-based treatments of pain and substance use disorders.
