With North Shore-LIJ Name Change, Health System’s 2,500-Member Medical Group Now Known as Northwell Health Physician Partners
MANHASSETT, NY – To complement the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s name change on January 1 to Northwell Health, the health network’s 2,500-member physician practice is rebranding as Northwell Health Physician Partners.
Formerly known as the North Shore-LIJ Medical Group, Northwell Health Physician Partners is the country’s seventh-largest multi-specialty group, serving the healthcare needs of hundreds of thousands of patients through more than 100 medical and surgical specialties. About half of the 2,500 doctors employed by Northwell Health provide care in the approximately 400 outpatient physician practices located throughout the New York metropolitan area, while the rest are based in the health system’s 21 hospitals.
“Our new name reflects our dedication to improve the health and wellness of our patients and community, which we accomplish by partnering with our patients, our colleagues and our organization as a whole,” said Ira Nash, MD, a practicing cardiologist and senior vice president and executive director of Northwell Health Physician Partners.
The name change is the latest of many exciting changes that highlight Northwell Health’s patient-centric dedication to excellence.
In August, Northwell Health Physician Partners began posting online patient reviews of its doctors on Northwell Health’s find a doctor profile pages – the first large medical group in the New York area and only the second in the Northeast to make its doctors’ ratings publicly available. The reviews offer feedback from actual and verified patients on nearly 800 physicians who provide care in outpatient medical practice settings.
“We are using transparency as an innovative approach to continuously improving as we strive to exceed our patients’ expectations,” said Dr.Nash.
In addition, Northwell Health’s connection to The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine enables its physicians to be at the forefront of innovation, research and education.
