Yuletide negotiators from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway have convinced the jolly man and his elves to squeeze an additional visit into their hectic schedule to add an extra special day of services to the timetable when they welcome Father Christmas on-board the Santa Story Train

“Our Santa Specials have sold out quicker than ever this year, but with so many people calling us, we have decided to add a brand new service to our pre-Christmas timetable,” comments North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s marketing manager, Danielle Ramsey.  “Taking inspiration from our incredibly popular summer ‘story trains’, we’ve invited Santa and his elves to join us for a day of themed trips between Pickering and Levisham on 22 December.”

Trips on the Santa Story Trains take around 90 minutes, during which time, an elite squad of entertaining elves will keep travellers amused with stories, songs and activities.  They will be joined on board by Father Christmas, carrying his magic sack of gifts up and down the train with an early Christmas present for all the children on the right side of his ‘naughty or nice’ list!

Traditional festive refreshments will be served to travellers – a mince pie for everyone, with fruit juice for children and a hot beverage and complimentary tipple for adults.  “You can easily spend 90 minutes queuing to see Santa in some of the big department stores, so this is a treat for parents and children alike – a relaxing trip through the North York Moors national park, away from the crowds in the high street, with drinks brought to your seat and plenty of photo opportunities along the way!” adds Danielle.

The trains depart at 9.45am, 11.20am, 1.40pm and 3.15pm.  “This is a brand new, very special service, so we’re expecting tickets to sell out very quickly,” adds Danielle.  The railway has roped in Santa’s little helpers at its ticket office in Pickering, and will have tickets available online to make sure the coolest tickets in town get into the right children’s hands.

Tickets cost £20 per person.  For more details, or to book, please visit www.nymr.co.uk
