Steaming hot style from Ted Baker puts NYMR on the fashion rails

Nostalgic glamour and dapper style are just two of the reasons why fashion house Ted Baker chose the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as the venue for its Autumn Winter collection photo and video shoot earlier this year, with the suave and sophisticated collection about to hit the shelves.

The new collection, called ‘Taking the Scenic Route’ has been launched with a ‘Brief Encounter’-style campaign, featuring the romantic encounter of an immaculately-dressed pair of travellers on a heritage steam train.  All filmed in and around carriages and stations of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the campaign – which incorporates video and Ted Baker’s latest ‘Look Book’ – captures all the style and glamour of the early 20thcentury, with art deco prints and sophisticated designs for the lady and gentleman around town.

“The North Yorkshire Moors Railway proved to be a rich and dramatic location in which to shoot our AW13 look book entitled ‘Take the Scenic Route’”, comments Craig Smith, Brand Communication Director for Ted Baker.   “When we arrived on the platform of Pickering station, billows of smoke were encircling the classic Pullman steam train instantly transporting us back to a bygone era and providing the perfect backdrop to shoot our AW13 collections.”

The Ted Baker crew spent five days on the railway earlier this year, filming with the 75029 Green Knight engine at Pickering Station, as well as the Pullman dining carriage, before heading up to Levisham, dressing a currently unused carriage for one scene, and capturing platform and crossing scenes with the two models. The final day was spent at Grosmont, shooting around the station and alongside some pre-war teak carriages, kindly loaned by LNERCA, National Railway Museum and Dave Cullingsworth.

“You always get a superbly nostalgic feeling when you travel aboard a steam train, but when you see the video, you fall in love with the age of steam all over again,” comments Danielle Ramsey, marketing manager of NYMR.  “Every detail of the models’ clothes and hair is immaculate, and really draws you into this glamorous world – we’re looking forward to having plenty more superbly dressed visitors on the railway this autumn when they try to emulate this stunning style!”

The results of the filming can be seen on the Ted Baker UK website at www.tedbaker.com.
