Luxembourg, March 7, 2012 - Northland Resources S.A. (TSX: NAU, OSE: NAUR, Frankfurt: NPK - "Northland" or "the company") has decided to change its management organization by appointing a Chief Operating Officer.

Northland has created a new position of Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for both the Kaunisvaara project and the operational organization of the Kaunisvaara Mine area. Duties will include completing the transition of the company from development to mining production, implementing the Pellivuoma project and securing logistics solutions for the transport of the iron ore concentrate from Kaunisvaara to Narvik for onward transportation to end-customers.

"With less than a year to go before production is scheduled to commence, this is the right time to prepare the company for the production start-up," says Karl-Axel Waplan, President and CEO of Northland. An important step is the change we are implementing in the management organization to ensure the optimum success of this transition to production."

Peter Pernlöf, the current Vice President - Procurement and Energy, has been appointed to the position of COO. Pernlöf will continue to also be responsible for Northland's procurement activities and energy issues.

"Peter Pernlöf's competence and unique experience of industrial operations make him the natural choice as we now consolidate and streamline our management structure," Karl-Axel Waplan continues. "In recent months, we have made several key appointments within the Kaunisvaara project. Among those who will ensure that mining operations commence as planned are Jan Rutqvist, Kjell Johansson, Glenn Nilsson, Hans Andersson and Egil Östlund, all of whom have extensive experience from the mining industry in Sweden and internationally."

Peter Pernlöf has considerable senior management experience within the industry. Before he joined Northland in 2010, Mr. Pernlöf was the President of BasEL AB. Prior to that, he was head of purchasing within the Boliden Group for more than ten years.

Northlands Vice President - Projects, Shane Williams has announced that he will be leaving the company to take on a new high level position with a global mining company. He will be working with project management in the Canadian iron ore sector.

"We wish Shane all the best and thank him for his tremendous contribution during his time at Northland," says Karl-Axel Waplan.
