Northland Updates on Stora Sahavaara Iron Project

Report this content

Vancouver, March 26, 2007:  Buck Morrow, the President of Northland Resources Inc., is pleased to provide an update on progress at Northland's Stora Sahavaara iron project.  Northland is in the process of mining a 1,000 tonne underground bulk sample and also continues to drill at the project.  Management anticipates that the bulk sample adit will be into the main magnetite body at some point this week.

Bulk Sample Progress

The mining crew has now developed approximately 10m of underground adit towards the main magnetite body.  On March 20 the adit cut through the mixed serpentine and magnetite hanging wall and intersected the main magnetite mineralization.  A large sample of the hangingwall material has been collected and stored.  The project team believes that the Company is on schedule to complete drifting within the magnetite by the end of March.

A series of photographs of the sampling operation have been posted on the Stora Sahavaara gallery page on the Northland website (www.northlandresourcesinc.com)

Resource & Metallurgical Drilling

Northland has completed 5 diamond core holes (>1,600m) so far in 2007.  Assay results for 4 of the new holes are given below.  The results are in line with what was expected and similar to the previous holes drilled by Northland.  A drill collar map showing the location of current and historic holes is available on the Northland web site at www.northlandresourcesinc.com

Hole No.              From      To      Interval (m)       Fe  %        Cu  %
SAH07001            11.2        40.0         28.8             47.2         0.10
SAH07002           320.6      372.0        51.4              45.0         0.04
SAH07003           298.9      344.4        45.5              47.0         0.06
SAH07004           224.0      255.1        31.1              41.8         0.09

Northland believes that the existing resource at Stora Sahavaara is sufficient for mine planning purposes so the current drilling is designed primarily to upgrade the confidence level of the resource in certain areas of the deposit down dip from previous drilling.  The current drilling has focused on holes with collar locations that will be in marshy ground in the summer.

Northland has delineated a NI43-101 compliant resource at Stora Sahavaara (see news release dated May 18, 2006).  Using a 25% Fe cut off, the magnetite body contains:

Category          Tonnes               Fe %           Cu %
Measured         77,063,210          43.32           0.080
Indicated          44,634,770          43.28           0.076
Inferred            23,346,373           41.76           0.051

Resource estimates were prepared by third party consultant, Bart Stryhas, PhD Structural Geology; the resource model and estimates were subsequently reviewed by Chlumsky Armbrust & Meyer L.L.C. ("CAM") an independent, mineral resource, consulting and engineering group based in Lakewood, Colorado USA.  CAM believes that the Stora Sahavaara resource and resource model has been prepared according to accepted engineering practice for a project at this level of development.

Northland's routine sample analyses for the Sahavaara Project, Pajala, Sweden, were carried out at The Geological Survey of Finland Analytical Laboratory, Rovaniemi Finland ("GTK"), which is accredited according to the SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025 and in compliance with the requirements of the Standards Council of Canada (CAN-P-1579) "Guidelines for Accreditation of Mineral Analysis Testing Laboratories".

Iron and copper analyses were performed using Sodium Peroxide Fusion multielement analysis with ICP-AES Technique, Method 720P and gold analysis was performed by Lead Fire Assay Preconcentration with ICP-AES Technique, Method 704P.  In addition to the GTK internal sample preparation and assay QC protocol, Northland maintains a rigorous QA/QC program consisting of inserting blanks, duplicates and certified standards to the analytical process.

Vance V. Thornsberry, PGeo, is the Qualified Person as defined in National Instrument 43-101 responsible for overseeing the design and execution of the Stora Sahavaara exploration program, and has verified that the information presented in this release is an accurate summary of the assay data provided to Northland by the GTK's analytical laboratory.
