New company will be founded to manage mobile number portability in Finland HELSINKI - April 23, 2003 - Finnet Oy, Oy Radiolinja Ab, Telia Mobile AB in Finland and TeliaSonera Finland (Sonera Corporation) will found a new company to manage the mobile number portability Master-solution in Finland. The decision to found a new company is based on the work the above-mentioned operators ordered from Northstream. All of the Finnish mobile operators were behind the decision. The company will begin its activities this spring in order to have the mobile number portability functional 25.7.2003. To cover the costs of the new system, the new company will charge the mobile operators according to a price list yet to be defined. The costs associated with the founding will be divided equally among the founding operators. The running costs will be divided among all the mobile operators as they all will use the system. The number of board seats, operator representation and the managing director will be decided at a later stage. Mobile number portability Master-solution supplier and provider has been selected Management consulting and technology services company Accenture has been selected to implement and host the mobile number portability Master- solution in Finland for 5 years. The solution to be delivered is based on the mobile number portability system already in use in the UK. Northstream continues the project management and implementation Northstream continues to support the mobile operators in support functions related to the company founding process and in project management of the total system. Mobile number portability in Finland follows EU directive and the new communication law effective from July 25, 2003. After that date a mobile phone user can keep the phone number after changing the subscription to another operator. Mobile number portability has been in use for several years in e.g. UK, Holland and Sweden.
