BBC1’S The One Show at the Bupa Great North 10k – Sunderland

One of the UK’s top hairstylists Michael Douglas will be filming an episode of Street Barber for BBC1’S The One Show at the Bupa Great North 10k – Sunderland on Sunday 18th July.

The well known celebrity hairdresser is on a mission to improve the nation’s hair, and is looking for runners taking part in the event to put themselves forward for a notable style change on the day of the event. Willing volunteers will be in safe hands, Michael’s clients include Davina McCall, Melinda Messenger, Ulrika Johnson, Tess Daly and the Sugababes. Michael said “This is the first time we’ve filmed an episode of Street Barber at a running event. I’m looking forward to coming to Sunderland and adding something different to the day for a few runners with a complete hair makeover.” The One Show team are looking for 2 or 3 volunteers available and wanting a notable style change before or after the race on Sunday 18th July 2010. The Bupa Great North 10k – Sunderland is a 10 kilometre city centre running event which starts on the cities Wearmouth Bridge and finishes at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light where runners pick up their finishers packs. The Bupa Great North 10k - Sunderland is open to runners of all abilities aged 15 years and over. All runners will receive an event t-shirt, souvenir finishers medal in their finishers pack and all participants will be chip timed to give an accurate finishing time with results on the Great Run website on the evening of the event. The day also includes the Bupa Junior Great Sunderland Run, suitable for youngsters aged 9 – 14 years and follows an approximate 2.4km course.
