The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has appointed NRC Group Finland Oy, a company wholly owned by NRC Group ASA, to a contract for track related work in Lappeenranta in Finland.

NRC Group Finland Oy will build the new 12,5 km double track between Joutseno and Rauha. The contract is valued at approximately EUR 20.7 million, and will involve rail services such as track and groundwork. The work will commence in September 2019, and the project is scheduled for completion in June 2023.

The contract is a part of Luumäki-Imatra railway project. The line section Luumäki–Imatra is one of the busiest single-track railways in Finland and traffic volumes are expected to increase significantly. The link is important, not only for freight transport, but also for the passenger transport routes Helsinki–Kouvola–Imatra–Joensuu and Helsinki–Vainikkala–St Petersburg/Moscow. A double-track railway is being built on the line Joutseno–Imatra, replacing the current single-track railway. The current track on the line Luumäki–Joutseno is also being improved.

Closing date for submission of complaints is 14 days from today, and formal contractual signing can take place after this period at the earliest.
