NRC Group ASA – Appointed to a light rail alliance contract in Finland

Tampere Tramway, the City of Tampere and the Municipality of Pirkkala have selected NRC Group Finland, a company wholly owned by NRC Group ASA (“NRC”), and YIT Finland as the construction parties in the new Tampere Pirkkala-Linnainmaa Alliance, as well as the design firms AFRY Finland Oy and Sweco Finland Oy.

The development phase will start in October 2023 and is scheduled for completion in October 2024. After the development phase, the project aims to enter the construction phase. The goal is to have the plan approved for construction phase by the councils of Tampere and Pirkkala during the autumn of 2024. The current target cost estimate for the alliance contract is approximately EUR 335 million, of which EUR 13.5 million is for the development phase.

The construction of the tramway would take place between 2025 and 2028. The construction schedule will become more precise during the development phase of the alliance.
