1928 historic home sits on over half an acre in Murray Hill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (July 22, 2016) – An historic waterfront property in Murray Hill has hit the market for $3.35 million, listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Travis Gray of the  Annapolis Church Circle office. The property at 11 South Acton sits on a .66-acre lot ideally located on Spa Creek.

The 20thCentury Dutch Colonial Revival was built in 1928 by Theodore W. Johnson Jr., who, according to legend, would partake in a daily ritual of swimming from the property’s access on Spa Creek all the way to City Dock. The home was part of the original 95.5-acre Murray Hill estate owned by the relatives of James D. Murray, who had inherited the 1770 Georgian Colonial, Acton Hall. Today, the Murray Hill estate’s original spring house is located on Acton Hall’s property, one of very few remaining similar structures in the area.

While maintaining the original character of the home, the residence underwent major renovations in 2005. Featuring hardwood floors and tall ceilings throughout, the home boasts crown molding, an in-law apartment with a private entrance and added privacy in the cul-de-sac location.

The tri-level home encompasses four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and one half-bathroom. The gourmet kitchen offers an open-floor plan with a butler’s pantry, breakfast bar, island, farmhouse sink, granite countertops and views of the yard. The master suite features a private terrace with water views, a fireplace, soaking tub, double vanity and a walk-in closet.

“It’s very rare to find a waterfront property with this much land in Murray Hill. The home has a lot of historic character that has been very well preserved by its owners over the years, while still providing the luxury upgrades that would be expected in a home at this price point,” said Travis Gray.

A private dock and boat lift offer direct access to Spa Creek and Severn River.
