FORT WORTH, TX (August 10, 2016) – A custom-built, Spanish Mission style estate has been listed for $929,900 in Azle. Reminiscent of an 18th century Spanish fortress, the 5,700-square-foot residence is situated at the peak of eight acres of property. Susan Georgeson of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Plano office has the listing at 451 Stoney Ridge.

“The home was constructed with significant attention to detail,” said Georgeson. “The homeowner is a professional artist and was heavily involved in the design process, completing most of the interior artwork himself.”

The seller, Herbert Gabler, is a German artist known best for his murals, statues and faux-paintings in private luxury residences around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  The home’s décor and interior design is a combination of his favorite past works from Europe and the United States.

“I really admire the Spanish mission style and wanted the house to have a cohesive antique, Spanish design to it,” said Gabler. “I used a lot of faux-painting on the home surfaces to create different textures and effects, like marble columns, weathered concrete floors and faux-exposed brick on some of the walls.”

Approaching the five-bedroom, four-and-one-half bathroom Spanish enclave, guests are greeted with Mission-style oak doors, crafted by local mill workers. Columns and arches are made of imported natural cantera stone, one of many carefully chosen materials to fit the property’s architecture and artistic elements. The entry hall opens to a rotunda and skylight, with a mural hand-painted by Gabler, and a 10-foot water fountain replica of the Toltec god from the pyramids of Tula, Mexico, also designed by the seller. Each room of the residence features unique artistic enhancements, from a hand-carved family crest above the fireplace, to the Latin prayer inscribed on the breakfast nook wall.

The walk-out master suite boasts tray ceilings, a fireplace and sitting area. The master bathroom emits natural light from a wall of windows, highlighting the elegant soaking tub, waterfall shower and double vanity.

Stepping outside, the expansive courtyard is surrounded with immaculate landscaping. A water fountain, outdoor kitchen and outdoor dining area create the perfect large-scale entertaining space, while the rooftop observation deck allows sweeping views over the eight-acres of property and the surrounding Parker County countryside.

Constructed for energy efficiency, the home runs off of a water well, aerobic sewer system, hot water solar panels and a heat reflective roof coating, resulting in minimal energy costs. The exterior walls are made of Hebel blocks, which are known for their energy efficient, lightweight, fire-resistant qualities.
