NAWBO RIPS THE ‘RUNWAY TO SUCCESS’ ANNUAL MEETING & FASHION SHOW SPONSORED BY MACY’S
Detroit, Mich. – May 21, 2013 – The National Association of Women Business Owners – Greater Detroit Chapter (NAWBO-GDC) will make history with the organization as they collaborate with first time sponsor Macy’s for their annual meeting and fashion show entitled, “Runway To Success”. The event will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Somerset Collection, starting at 4:30p.m. The event will also include induction of the organization’s new board of directors for the 2013-2014 year as well as recognize outstanding member’s contributions for the 2012-2013 year. The event festivities will take place on the second floor of Macy’s By Appointment at Somerset Collection which is located2800 West Big Beaver Road inTroy,Mich.
“This evening provides the opportunity for us to hear plans from the incoming president, to meet and welcome our new board members. It’s important for our members to get acquainted in order to carry out our mission of empowering one another”, says, Carol Kirkland, President, NAWBO Greater Detroit Chapter. “Growing sometimes requires us to step out of our comfort zone and NAWBO provides that opportunity”.
The event will also feature representatives from NAWBO corporate sponsor’s General Motors, DTE, Comerica Bank, Sam’s Club, among others, modeling the summers hottest and latest fashion trends. A networking reception will take place from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. followed by the board swearing in ceremony and fashion show from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tickets for NAWBO-GDC Members are $60 and for non members $85. With the purchase of admission, each attendee will receive a $25 Macy’s gift card. A private store shopping experience will conclude the evening’s program. As part of NAWBO- GDC community efforts, for this event they have also partnered with "Jackets for Jobs", an organization that has helped over 14,000 individuals achieve their job seeking goals with proper etiquette and training programs. Members of NAWBO-GDC and their supporters have donated gently used clothing during this year’s past events whereby contributors are also eligible to be entered into a raffle for a gift donated by Macy’s.
