Nurminen Logistics Plc and Unipro Oy Ltd have signed a two-year logistics outsourcing agreement. Nurminen has designed a service package in collaboration with Unipro, and the goal of the package is to ensure the customer’s success and increase Unipro’s competitive advantage with the help of logistics and digitalisation.

Ari Soinola, who is in charge of Nurminen’s outsourcing and forwarding services, describes the content of the collaboration: “Together with Unipro, we have built a supply chain for components that is based on Nurminen’s regular train service. We transport the components Unipro needs in its production from the supplier’s factory to Chongqing. In addition, Unipro also has the opportunity to store components at Nurminen’s Vuosaari terminal.  This provides them with tax-free and customs-free warehousing and allows them to prepare for sudden changes in order volumes. With this supply chain, we are able to ensure the functioning of the customer’s production regardless of global logistics challenges.”

Most of Unipro’s products are sold to end customers in Europe. With a quick order and supply chain, Unipro believes that it can win greater market share and more customers. The company is building a new production plant in Hämeenlinna and, at the same time, it has also updated all of the package sizes for its shipments. The digital export process, developed in collaboration with Nurminen, ensures that the transport ordered for each shipment can be carried out with as little manual work as possible and always on schedule.

“With this new production plant, we got the opportunity to design the company’s logistics from scratch, and I’m very happy with the solution offered by Nurminen. Nurminen’s train service to and from China has already shown how well it works, and I’m excited to see how it can still be developed further with the help of digitalisation,” says Unipro’s CEO Vesa Samela.
