About NUS extra

NUS extra was formed in 2006 by the National Union of Students (NUS). It represented a key element of the partnership between NUS and NUS Services, and is the focus of a joint strategy to provide students’ unions with new sources of income and support.

NUS Extra is managed on behalf of NUS by NUS Services Ltd, based in Macclesfield

Sales of NUS extra cards delivers financial revenue directly back in to the student movement, with every students’ union currently receiving £4.31 net commission per card sold to their students.

Income generated from NUS extra sales has equated to over £35,000 net profit per year for the top selling union. In 2010/2011 413,000NUSextra cards were sold, generating approximately £1.3 million of income to students’ unions, and since 2006, NUS extra has generated over £6m of income for students’ unions, which is a staggering amount of money and so valuable to unions.

The income generated by NUS extra sales can make a big difference to students’ unions, either directly funding projects or allowing them to invest in projects that directly enhance student facilities, which they may not have previously been able to budget for.

NUS extra is available to students aged over 14 years, including distance learners and vocational students

The international card upgrade, ISIC, turns your NUS Extra card into an International Student Identity card, with access to over 40,000 discounts worldwide for just an additional £2.99
