STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BILL DE BLASIO ON COPENHAGEN SHOOTING

Report this content

“Today’s shooting in Copenhagen was not only a tragedy for the people of Denmark; it was an attack on our core values and was felt by people across the globe. We in New York City know all too well the danger of terrorist acts, and we are united in our resolve to celebrate diversity and defend freedom of speech. This afternoon I called the mayor of Copenhagen to express New York’s sympathy for and solidarity with the people of Copenhagen and its law enforcement during this difficult time. As I expressed to the mayor, New York stands ready to help in any way we can; no cowardly act of terror will threaten our belief in the right to free speech.”
