New features and capabilities of the CLEAVEMETER 3D
The CLEAVEMETER 3D has been one of NYFORS’s bestselling products in the past year. This year we are announcing several new features that expand the scope of the devices capabilities. The device now comes with a new control software that not only simplifies its operation, but also offers a variety of new analysis features for fiber end-face inspection. Furthermore the development of new holders now allow for the quality inspection of fiber connectors and a larger field of view of 2000um.
The CLEAVEMETER 3D is NYFORS’s fiber end-face inspection interferometer. It can analyse a cleaved fiber and measure the fiber cleave angle. It is also capable of creating a full 3D reconstruction of the end-face through phase shifting technology. With the new software update to the MEGAPIXEL VIEWER software, shipped with the CLEAVEMETER 3D, NYFORS has not only changed the look and simplified the operation of the program, but has also added a number of new and unique features.
The program is now capable of measuring and graphically visualising the depth of the blade intrusion, which commonly occurs during a cleave process. Similarly the program will mark out other damages on the fiber such as hackle or just dust that has collected onto the cleave. The user can set an acceptable damage threshold. A new functionality allows the user to access all this information as well as the cleave angle through one click for every new fiber. The information is automatically logged for future inspection. The user can also set up pass/fail criteria that will allow for a quick post-process selection if necessary.
Furthermore, NYFORS has developed new adapter plates for fiber connectors. These adapter plates allow end face inspection for SMA and FC/PC adaptors with high accuracy. Connectors are mounted in a highly stable and precise mount that ensures high accuracy measurements. More adaptor plates compatible with Vytran, FITEL and FUJIKURA fiber clamps are also available now.
The CLEAVEMETER 3D and the new adaptor plates will be further presented at Photonics West 2017, January 31st – February 2nd at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA.
