New fully automatic thermal stripper from NYFORS TEKNOLOGI AB - the AUTOSTRIPPER 3
The AUTOSTRIPPER 3 is NYFORS’s new thermal stripping device designed for fast and chemical free window stripping of optical fibers. It can remove acrylate-coatings between 250 and 550 μm and claddings between 125 and 300 μm, leaving behind a cleanly stripped fiber while retaining a high fiber strength.
The device operates with a controlled hot air flow that instantly vaporizes the fiber coating. This process yields results that show a clean fiber at 400x magnification. The stripping also retains the strength of the fiber, which can be tested with a built-in tensile strength tester up to 20 N.
All processes are controlled by a built-in microprocessor to ensure high quality and repeatability. A newly integrated touchpad allows for the simple and quick control of all critical processes and parameters. Through a clean and intuitive user interface, the operator can control parameters such as the stripping length (from 2.5 to 160 mm), the burst time, the tensile strength test (from 0 to 20 N) as well as the fiber cladding and coating diameters. The touchpad also allows the device to be connected to a local WiFi network, which makes it easy to share data or change parameters remotely.
The device can be used as a stand-alone device or can be integrated into different subsystems. It comes as a small table-top device that is easily set-up and transported.
