Minister for Trade inaugurates new sulphur treatment plant- Investment of SEK 600 million reduces emissions to one fifth

Today Minister for Trade Ewa Björling inaugurates a new sulphur treatment plant in Nynäshamn. Specialty oil company Nynas AB invests nearly SEK 600 million in the new facility, which means that emissions from sulphur recovery are reduced to a fifth of current emissions.

The plant is designed to provide high reliability and is another important step in Nynas efforts to ensure high delivery reliability to customers.

Nynas produces 400,000 tons of specialty oils in Nynäshamn of which more than 95% goes to markets outside Sweden. The value of these exports is close to SEK 4 billion per year.

- Over the last five years Nynas has invested over SEK 2 billion in Nynäshamn. This we have done to meet the global demand for Nynas products with a modern and more sustainable production, says CEO Staffan Lennström.

Nynas is at the forefront in the development of environmentally sound and less harmful oils and works continuously to develop their products in order to retain a strong position in global markets.

The company's products are used for the public key infrastructure. Nynas oil cools and insulates a large proportion of the world's electricity. There are very high standards of cleanliness for this oil and Nynas has taken its position as global market leader through their knowledge and efforts hydration technology in Nynäshamn. Nynas has also developed a particularly strong binder for silent asphalt being used increasingly to reduce noise around major roads. Nynas oil is also used in a large variety of applications such as the new hybrid batteries, printing ink, oils for metal working fluids, lubricants and greases, rubber moldings and highly efficient tires.
