Declares May the Official Month to Celebrate Hardworking Americans

CINCINNATI (May 4, 2012) – Severely dry hands, often a work-related ailment that goes untreated, can be both painful and debilitating. That’s why O’Keeffe’s Company, makers of Working Hands cream for dry skin, held a contest to find and celebrate the Hardest Working Hands in America. Allen Crippen, a certified welder from Kiowa, Colo., who owns a tree service and steel building erection company, was chosen as the Grand Prize winner. In honor of Allen, the five runners-up, and hardworking Americans everywhere, O’Keeffe’s Company decided to name May Hardest Working Americans month and to celebrate hardworking individuals throughout the country.

“We were looking for a pair of working hands that represent the dedication American men and women put into their jobs each and every day,” said Jake Ragland, managing director of O’Keeffe’s Company. “We were amazed to receive almost 1,000 stories – each as heartfelt as the last. We decided to continue to honor the hard working men and women in America by deeming May Hardest Working Americans month.”

Grand Prize winner and certified welder by trade, Allen Crippen has always been a hard worker. Today, he is the owner of AAC Enterprises, a tree trimming and removal and steel building erection business. As the recipient of the title of the Hardest Working Hands in America, Allen will receive $5,000 and a lifetime supply of O’Keeffe’s Working Hands moisturizing cream.

The five runners-up include Steve Moy, a letter carrier from Wilmette, Ill.; Rick Chimenti, a garbage man from San Francisco, Calif.; Nicole Totino, a small-scale vegetable farmer from Quaker Hill, Conn.; Keith Brost, a rancher from Brush, Colo.; and Lori McQuillan, a registered nurse from Saint Charles, Ill. Each will be awarded $1,000 and a one-year supply of Working Hands.

Winning entries can be viewed on the O’Keeffe’s Company Facebook page, www.facebook.com/okeeffes. Throughout the month of May, fans will be encouraged to post stories about the hardest working men and women in their own lives on the company’s Facebook page.
