New Chinese contracts for ODIM

(Hareid, 22 October 2008): Contracts worth some NOK 35 million have been awarded to ODIM by China’s BGP CNCP. They relate to two equipment packages for automated handling of two-dimensional seismic and cranes for a vessel with a 12-streamer configuration.

ODIM recently moved into a new Shanghai office, and the Norwegian group sees exciting growth opportunities in the Chinese market in the time to come. The recently-awarded contracts supplement a series of orders already secured from customers in China so far this year and bring the total value of these assignments to almost NOK 350 million.

ODIM’s goal in this country is to expand its client base even further. Continued development of relations with existing customers will also be important.

“The growing flow of contracts from China reflects systematic efforts over time,” comments Idar Hatløy, senior vice president for sales and marketing at ODIM. “We’ve long worked purposefully towards Chinese shipping companies, and have been concerned to put in place people with the right expertise and experience as well as relevant networks. “Our group has now also acquired a local presence. These are all key requirements for market success in China.”
