(Hareid, 4 July 2008): ODIM has strengthened its management by appointing Birger Myklebust (50) as vice president Asia with responsibility for this important growth region. He starts work on 15 July.

Mr Myklebust has played a key role in building up Asian operations at the Ulstein group and Rolls-Royce. Currently resident in the Chinese city of Shanghai, he will be moving to Singapore later.

The appointment of Mr Myklebust comes just a year after COO Kjetil Leine joined ODIM with many years of experience from the maritime sector in Asia and the Middle East. Both men have broad and deep international experience, and almost 40 years of Asian experience between them.

“We must increasingly relate to an international customer base,” notes ODIM CEO Jogeir Romestrand in a comment. “At the same time, our system deliveries are becoming bigger and more complex. We accordingly need a strong focus on establishing value chains led by people with long international experience and industrial expertise. Mr Myklebust has exactly what we require.”

ODIM is preparing the ground for substantial international expansion in coming years, and important moves have been made to enhance expertise and capacity in its outsourcing network.

The company’s presence in Asia has been increased through the creation of a value chain in Vietnam and through a stronger presence in Singapore, China and India. In line with rising economic growth in this region, ODIM will be stepping up activities at its Singapore office even further in the time to come.
