The award, sponsored by Orbit Developments, was judged on trading performance and future objectives, the competitive advantage of the business, and examples of specific strategies which have driven business growth.

Stockport's top businesses were represented at the awards ceremony on the 4thOctober 2012 at the Hallmark Hotel. The evening was hosted by BBC Manchester's Becky Want and included appearances on stage by Paralympic medal winners Matthew Walker and Anthony Kappes, and former NBA star John Amaechi.
