Comic Con Kicks Off with Demon Noir Fantasy with Academy Award-Winning Creature Creator to Direct

Take Stephen Spielberg’s anti-studio sentiment; add a fan-based revolution for practical “real” effects; and bring it to the Veronica Mars / Zack Braff– induced frenzy on Kickstarter; and for good measure, why not make it a franchise?! With a San Diego Comic Con premiere, that’s the recipe for the Tom Woodruff Jr.-directed demon-mythology that’s asking its millions of followers on social media for one dollar each to join (http://kck.st/12CfFoh) the “non-studio” / “real effects” revolution. If funded to its $1M stretch goal, it targets to be the third largest funded project in Kickstarter history, the first largest not driven by a huge actor and/or studio. See the Kickstarter at:  www.FireCity.com/Kickstarter

Making the jump to director from visual technician like his predecessors Guillermo Del Torro (who’s once again in the limelight with Pacific Rim), the godfather of practical effects Stan Winston, and of course, James Cameron, Woodruff smartly teams with 30-year veteran Dennis Murphy who has line produced everything from Joss Whedon’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Tales From The Crypt to Jennifer Lopez-starrer Enough and this year’s FX show The Bridge. Taking a page from the Games of Thrones success, Woodruff is working directly with Fire City’s (www.FireCity.com) content creators, Brian Lubocki & Michael Hayes, who will also be producing the franchise.

Expect to see at least one of Amalgamated Dynamic’s academy-award-worthy demons promoting the film at Comic Con passing out the tie-in comic book, demon tarot cards and other firey-hot promotional swag. Also play the Fire City: The Interpreter of Signs game by collecting all 7 tarot cards at Comic Con, to win hats, t-shirts & comic books signed by Mr.Pumpkinhead himself, Tom Woodruff, Jr.
