17 MORE STATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN UPCOMING DYLE™ MOBILE TV LAUNCH
Seven Broadcast Networks Will Participate in the Dyle Consumer Launch New Launch Markets include Austin, Boston and Dayton
Las Vegas, April 16, 2012 – Dyle™ mobile TV, presented by Mobile Content Venture (MCV), announced today that additional television stations from Belo, Cox Media Group, Fox, Gannett Broadcasting, ION, Post-Newsweek, Meredith, Raycom, CBS Television and LIN Media will join the network of broadcasters delivering content to Dyle™ mobile TV, bringing the total number of broadcast networks participating in Dyle to seven and total launch markets to 35. Dyle is the consumer service that brings live broadcast television, including local and national news, sports and entertainment programming to mobile devices at home or on-the-go.
Dyle is operated by the Mobile Content Venture (MCV), a joint-venture of 12 major broadcast groups including Belo Corp., Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps Co., Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television Inc., Media General Inc., Meredith Corp., Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media, all of which are part of the standalone entity known as Pearl, LLC, as well as Fox, ION Television and NBC.
Station groups that are participating in the Dyle launch will enable registered Dyle users to watch live broadcasts on mobile devices in their respective television markets. Some stations participating in the launch will be implementing standards-based conditional access that will be fully compatible with MCV’s Dyle application. In addition, all content that is broadcast by stations without encryption will be picked up and displayed by devices featuring Dyle at launch.
New markets featuring Dyle mobile TV will include:
- Austin – LIN Media’s NBC affiliate (KXAN) will join Fox’s Owned & Operated station (KTBC)
- Boston – Fox’s Owned & Operated station (WFXT) will join ION’s Owned & Operated (WBPX)
- Dayton – Cox’s CBS affiliate (WHIO)
New stations featuring Dyle mobile TV will include:
- CBS Owned & Operated stations in the Dallas (KTVT) and Miami (WFOR) markets
- CBS affiliates in the Houston (Belo – KHOU), Seattle (Cox – KIRO), DC (Gannett – WUSA), Orlando (Post News – WKMG), Atlanta (Meredith – WGCI), Phoenix (Mededith - KPHO) and Charlotte (Raycom – WBTV) markets
- ABC affiliates in the Dallas (Belo’s WFAA) and Orlando (Cox’s WFTV) markets
- Independent (KCAL) in Los Angeles
CBS and LIN Media are two new station groups joining more than 74 previously-announced U.S. stations owned by Pearl LLC members (Belo Corp., Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps Co., Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television Inc., Media General Inc., Meredith Corp., Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media), as well as Fox, ION Television, Univision, Bahakel, Telemundo, and NBC, to enable their stations to transmit a mobile broadcast signal.
