LAS VEGAS – NAB 2012 – April 16 2012 – Mobile Content Venture (MCV) and LG Electronics are demonstrating a new LG Android smartphone with the Dyle™ mobile TV service, powered by MCV, at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters’ convention. Today’s announcement further validates the options consumers are looking for in their consumption of live, local television programming outside of their living room.

Dyle Mobile TV is the consumer-facing brand launched by MCV to deliver live mobile television content from 15 major broadcast groups including Pearl LLC (Belo Corp., Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps Co., Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television Inc., Media General Inc., Meredith Corp., Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media) as well as Fox, ION Television, Univision, Bahakel, Telemundo and NBC.

LG’s prototype Dyle-compatible device is based on the company’s global Optimus Vu platform and boasts a stunning 5-inch diagonal high-definition screen. Utilizing the A/153 ATSC Mobile DTV Standard, co-developed by LG Electronics, consumers will be able to enjoy live news, sports and entertainment programming on-the-go through Dyle mobile TV. At launch, Dyle will be available from more than 90 stations in 35 markets, reaching approximately 55 percent of the U.S. population.

“As mobile digital TV continues to mature and take shape, it’s important for us to work with members of our industry like LG who can advance the adoption of this game-changing technology,” said Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-general managers of MCV, in a joint statement. “LG’s mobile broadcast technology helps us offer more devices enabled with Dyle mobile TV to a wider footprint across the U.S., giving consumers additional options to watch live, local TV.”

“LG applauds MCV for its leadership in driving the widespread adoption of mobile digital TV,” said LG’s Dr. Jong Kim, President of the Zenith R&D Lab, the Illinois-based research and development subsidiary of LG Electronics. “As a long-time technology leader in this emerging field, LG is enthusiastic about the growth potential of this new generation of television receivers.”
