Mobile Digital TV to Showcase Services and Devices at Mobile Marketing Forum
New Generation of Mobile DTV Devices Will Attract Mobile Marketers
New York, June 11, 2012 – The Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) will use this week’s Mobile Marketing Association Forum to showcase mobile digital TV services that America’s broadcasters are poised to launch later this year. New devices are in development that will bring Mobile DTV to cell phones, tablets, portable TV sets and autos. The Mobile Marketing Association includes more than 700 member companies from nearly 50 countries and including hardware providers, marketers, and software developers. The MMA’s New York Forum runs June 11-13 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan.
“The broadcast members of the OMVC see a tremendous opportunity in the mobile device,” said Anne Schelle, executive director of the 900-station-strong OMVC. “They are gearing up to bring live, local TV programming to an array of mobile devices – from handsets, to tablet adapters and portable TV sets and even auto infotainment systems. Since the MMA Forum is the primary venue for marketing innovation in the mobile industry, we want to ensure that attendees have Mobile DTV on their radar,” she added.
Schelle noted that more than 130 TV stations will be on the air with Mobile DTV channels by the end of this year. Already, Mobile DTV is available in cities throughout the country through transmissions from local TV stations.
“The OMVC is excited to join with the Mobile Marketing Association to bring together content providers and distributors with publishers, advertisers and brand managers to stimulate opportunities for mobile video,” Schelle said. “We believe the MMA is the organization and the New York Forum is the place to bring all the right parties together.”
“There’s no question that video is driving a lot of what’s happening with mobility, and we’re excited about the opportunity to showcase Mobile DTV as a superb way to reach viewers,” said Michael J. Becker, Managing Director of North America for the Mobile Marketing Association. “Mobile DTV is poised to be a robust mobile marketing tool for the entire ecosystem of brands and advertisers. Our membership likes to be on top of the latest trends, and we’re pleased that OMVC and its members are reaching out to establish these important ties,” Becker added.
The 2012 MMA Forum New York is the industry's leading mobile marketing event. Professionals from across the ecosystem gather at the Forum each year to hear fresh brand and agency case studies, hear about new technology solutions, and meet new business partners, clients, and industry friends. Driven by new technologies and increased device consumption, spending on mobile marketing continues to see unprecedented growth. In this year's Forum, industry leaders will take the stage to share their insights around consumer-centric engagement, strategies and tactics.
