New op5 Monitoring Solution Combats Application Sprawl and Network Traffic Growth

Report this content

Stockholm, December 6, 2012. op5, a market leading provider of enterprise monitoring solutions, today released a new version of the op5 Monitor. As the number of applications, devices and transactions are expected to multiply over the next few years, organizations will struggle to maintain control and secure service delivery to all parts of the enterprise. As the SaaS (software as service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) paradigms spread, the monitoring of the IT resources will become an even bigger challenge than before.

“Not only does IT become more and more de-centralized and dispersed through the organization – the total number of applications is also expected to rise, and the total volume of traffic in the corporate networks will grow at a tremendous rate over the next few years. Still, someone will have to maintain the responsibility for managing this heterogeneous environment and its access to shared resources, and to make sure the company as a whole stays compliant and productive. Hence the need for a high-performance monitoring solution,” says Jan Josephson, CEO of op5.

op5, currently a Red Herring Global Award finalist, has created the fastest monitoring solution on the market. The performance and capacity, together with an easy-to-use interface, provides mid-sized and large enterprises with a powerful tool for monitoring and managing their applications, regardless of where they reside – in the datacenter or in a private, hybrid or public cloud environment.

The new version of op5 Monitor has been redesigned from the core out to the user interface to provide IT departments with a solution which can manage hundreds or thousands of systems, devices and resources with an unrivaled performance.  Based on the open source Nagios* platform, op5 Monitor can supervise most common systems, applications, databases and devices, and support for new resources is constantly added.

According to Cisco*, the Internet traffic is expected to quadruple in the next four years. One of the main driving forces behind this development is said to be the explosive growth in the number of connect devices which, according to Cisco, will almost double from 2011 to 2016. At the same time, the number of users and applications are increasing, creating a situation, which will make it very challenging for organizations to keep their resources under control.

“Many of today’s monitoring solutions are a lot like Christmas trees. They have developed out of the structured and homogenous environment that used to be IT a few years ago. Now, new functionality is added like bling on the branches, but the tree in itself can´t cope and the system slowly but surely dies. What we have done is to create a monitoring solution built from the ground up for this distributed and diversified world we now live in,” says Jan Josephson.
