op5 Launches Subscription-Based Licensing Model for Professional IT Systems

[Stockholm, Sweden, September 3, 2007.] The leading Swedish OSM (open source management) company op5 announces the launch of a new licensing model called op5 Network Management Suite. op5 Network Management Suite enables customers to easily and cost-efficiently subscribe to professional systems for monitoring, statistics and logg handling, including e.g. service and support.

From today, op5 will offer its clients the option to subscribe to its entire product line, consisting of op5 Monitor, op5 Statistics and op5 LogServer, through its new licensing model op5 Network Management Suite. The new subscription model is comprehensive and flexible and can be ordered and installed for any product(s) and for as little as 25 IP addresses over the course of a year, up to several thousand IP addresses over several years.

”We notice a strongly increased demand for this type of licensing with ’everything included’. The IT environments of today are changing much more rapidly than before; Companies are merged, projects are started and terminated, new systems are launched and old systems are removed in an ever-increasing speed. This makes traditional licenses difficult to handle and administer. Companies and other organisations can handle this much easier by simply subscribing to the correct amount of licenses”, said Jan Josephson, Head of Business Development, op5.

There are no set-up fees for op5 Network Management

. The monthly fee, which is invoiced per quarter in advance, includes hardware, system, licensing cost and service, and a support agreement which gives access to new releases. Installation and training are optional.

At the end of the subscription period, the customer can choose to extend the rental agreement, or to simply return the products without extra costs. The subscription price is based on the length of the agreement and e.g. the number of nodes that the client wishes to monitor.

”Another important property is the clients’ improved capability to budget these costs in the future, to directly and easily find out what the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a system really will be over one, two or three years. The entire process is significantly simplified by including everything (i.e. access to new releases, support, service etc) in a fixed price”, said Jan Josephson.

”It is a fact that software based on open source is superior to vendor locked-in software, that the solutions are more flexible and that the costs are much lower. In addition, op5 focuses on user friendliness, the best price/performance, and a top of the line support”, said Johan Berg, CEO, op5.
