Swedish Customs reaffirms its confidence in op5

The Swedish Customs Service (Tullverket) is a public authority with high requirements on its IT operations. Swedish Customs IT – already a satisfied customer with op5 – has purchased and installed op5’s solution for archiving of logs and other IT information, op5 Log Server.

Approximately three years ago the IT department’s monitoring of the IT environment in Swedish Customs was reactive. Only when users called and complained did the IT department realise that something was wrong. Clearly, that was untenable in the long run and Swedish Customs decided to find a tool for proactive monitoring of the IT structure.

”We opted for op5’s solution because it was simple, quick and easy to start, and not very resource demanding”, said Anna Thun, Head of Swedish Custom IT’s Operations Department.

Swedish Customs has associations with other Swedish public authorities (SGSI) and there are therefore specific requirements regarding separate log handling. That is why Swedish Customs has supplemented its tool kit with op5 LogServer. The IT department has recently introduced incident and problems handling in an ITIL project at Swedish Customs. LogServer will be used for handling of application logs.

Swedish Customs cooperates with other customs services, both within and outside the European Union. Swedish Customs’ own IT department consists of 170 staff and has developed one of Europe’s largest and most effective customs handling systems.

Since earlier, Swedish Customs use op5 Monitor for monitoring of its IT systems and op5 Statistics to be able to graphically analyse and show statistics for follow-up. Swedish Customs started in a small scale with op5’s products but are now adding solutions as the requirements and needs increase.
