It is time to decide how the staging of the Free Will opera looks like.

Savonlinna Opera Festival launched Opera By You project in May 2010. In the project anyone can contribute to the creation of an opera. Hundreds of people around the world have participated in work and the project has thousands of followers. Samuli Laine works as a visual coordinator in the project.

- Now the opera’s final visual appearence will be decided. There are two options which have been issued by the thoughts and ideas of the online community, Laine tells.

Scenes take place in market square and political campaign offices

In the Free Will opera god has had enough of all the misery that people are suffering and decides to send a couple of dead genius back to Earth to make things better. They are supposed to make a huge difference in science and art and create world peace. Venues are hell, earth and heaven. Political campaign offices reflect hell and heaven. The earth scenes take place in market square.

There are two options for final staging. Vote can be cast in http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/2264. Voting is running until 31.8.2011.

All voters participate in a competition where the prize is an experience trip to Savonlinna Opera Festival. The trip includes return flights from the winners own country to Helsinki, Finland, the return journey Helsinki - Savonlinna - Helsinki, two nights accommodation in Savonlinna, a steamer cruise to Olavinlinna Castle and an opera ticket.

The Free Will opera world premiere is at the Savonlinna Opera Festival on 21st of July 2012.
