This summer, soloists from a total of nine different countries will grace the stage at Opera på Skäret, all facing a challenging task ahead. Norma, an opera rooted in the Italian bel canto tradition, is a work that demands both lyrical finesse and dramatic power.

"We are incredibly proud to welcome these first-class opera singers to Skäret this summer. We are also grateful that so many opera singers from around the world audition for us every year. It allows Opera på Skäret to create opera art at a very high level", says Alexander Niclasson, artistic director at Opera på Skäret and also the stage director of the production of Norma.

One of this year's soloists is soprano Alina Tkachuk from Ukraine, who last year was very successful in the role of Gilda in Rigoletto. This year, she will be singing the lead role of Norma. The role of Norma is shared between Alina and Serbian soprano Sonja Šarić. Pollione is portrayed by tenor Vitaliy Kovalchuk, also from Ukraine, and Thai tenor Nutthaporn Thammathi. The role of Adalgisa is sung by German mezzo-soprano Anna Werle and Colombian Andrea Niño. The Finnish bass Petri Lindroos sings the role of Oroveso, as does American bass-baritone Tyler Putnam, whom many will recognize from last year when he took on the roles of Sparafucile and the Count of Monterone in Rigoletto last year. Last but not least, Swedish Mathilda Bryngelsson sings the role of Clotilde.

Norma has two casts, each premiering on Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28. Performances will thereafter take place on August 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, 18, 24, and 25.

The opera is sung in the original language Italian and subtitled in Swedish. For more information and tickets, visit
