WASHINGTON, DC, September 29  – A 60-second radio commercial for Operation Lifesaver's Common Sense trespass prevention campaign (www.commonsenseuseit.com) created to promote train safety was named the best Public Service Announcement (PSA) at the 2010 Radio Mercury Awards, held in New York September 27. The PSA was created by Baltimore-based Exit10 and produced by Annapolis-based Flying Brick Radio.  You can listen to the PSA and email it to friends at the Radio Mercury Awards website: http://bit.ly/bPj176.

“By winning this prestigious award, the Common Sense PSA will increase its use and enhance safety awareness among 18-34 year olds, who now make up one-third of rail trespass casualties,” said Helen Sramek, president, Operation Lifesaver (www.oli.org)

“It’s always nice to have work recognized, but it’s especially satisfying to win an award for a public service announcement. It means that our work was judged as being very effective at saving lives. It’s hard to find something more important than that,” said Jonathan Helfman, Exit10 creative director.
