Chateau Beaulieu Rose 2010 Arrives

From a Relais & Chateau property whose vines are situated inside an inactive volcano in southern France comes this fresh and delicious rose wine -- just in time for spring.

The season of rose wine is just around the corner, and, appropriately, Opici Wines has recently added Château Beaulieu to their growing portfolio.

Situated in the town of Rognes, Château Beaulieu is the largest estate in the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation of  France, a region situated west of Provence and north of the Mediterranean Sea and has been producing wine since the Roman times. Over 200 hectares of vineyards on the Beaulieu estate are surrounded by truffle oaks and almond trees and lie in the heart of an inactive volcano – La Trévaresse -- that rises 400 meters above sea level. Originally built by Henri III as a fiefdom  in 1576, Chateau Beaulieu belonged for centuries to the Counts of Provence, successively owned by noble families who took great care to preserve the exceptional terroir of the estate.

In addition to the vines and winery, Château Beaulieu includes a luxury hotel and Michelin 2-star gourmet restaurant that is part of the Relais & Châteaux fellowship. The original château remains on the property, and is designated as an historic monument by the French government for its unique architecture and beauty.

From this legendary estate comes Château Beaulieu Rosé 2010, a bone-dry wine made from a blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah grapes. Its bright salmon color and distinctive, curvy bottle shape typify its Mediterranean roots, and its clean, crisp, citrusy flavor makes it a perfect pairing for classic dishes of the area – such as grilled red mullet, fish soup, scallops, and crab. This pink wine will also match well with lean, simply prepared meats such as poultry and pork, and is just fine on its own as a summer sippe. Serve it slightly chilled, but not too cold or else you’ll miss its delicate floral aromas and fresh strawberry notes.

Château Beaulieu Rosé 2010 has just arrived in the USA and is available now nationwide, imported by Opici Wines. Suggested retail price is $14.99.
