Corolilla Assigned to Opici Wines
National Importer Adds To Eclectic Spanish Portfolio
Opici Wines, a New Jersey based, family-owned and -operated wine importer and producer, has been assigned the national importer of Corolilla wines. Opici Wines will begin by importing Corolilla Crianza, made from 100% Bobal .
Bobal is a grape indigenous to the Denominación de Origen (DO) production area of Valencia, located along the eastern coast of Spain in the region of Valencia. The thick-skinned, flavorful grape is resistant to phylloxera and requires a hot growing season. Previously used for bulk wine production, Spanish winemakers have recently discovered that Bobal can be a high quality, long-lived wine when picked from old vines with strict yields. Corolilla Crianza is made from old-vine Bobal in limestone-rich vineyards that are situated at an elevation of 700 meters above sea level and enjoy summer breezes from the nearby Mediterranean Sea.
