GET YOUR GARDEN SEXY FOR SUMMER DURING NATIONAL GARDENING WEEK
With the sun set to return soon (hopefully!), what better way to celebrate National Gardening Week (13 – 19 April) than adding a touch of summer colour to garden furniture which may have been neglected over winter.
Everyone dreams of a beautiful garden to relax in over the summer months, but sometimes furniture and garden accessories get a rough treatment outdoors. Left in the elements, a garden can start to look pretty shabby and uninviting once paint begins to peel and flake.
Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to be the end of the road for garden items after a few months of neglect. With Rust-Oleum’s how-to guides it’s easy to breathe new life into tables, chairs, plant pots, barbeques, chimineas and much more.
Garden tables and chairs can be spray painted quickly and easily in an array of different finishes and colours, year after year to hide a multitude of sins.
Inject bold bright colours or create calm with a soft elegant shade. Whatever your taste, make the back garden the envy of all neighbours and bring warm evenings in the garden alive.
How to update your garden furniture…
What you will need:
- Garden furniture (wooden or metal)
- Rust-Oleum Universal spray paint or Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch
- Newspaper/ dust sheets
- Masking tape
How to update your furniture:
- Move your furniture to a well ventilated area and place on top of a large dust sheet or some old newspapers. You may want to cover the surrounding area with additional dust sheets/ newspaper to protect it from spray mist.
- Ensure surfaces to be painted are free from loose paint, rust, wax, oil and grease. Previously painted surfaces should be abraded to provide a key.
- Using your selected colour, hold the can approximately 30cm from the surface of the furniture and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping with each stroke. For best results, hold the can the same distance from the surface and keep the can in motion. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart.
Rust-Oleum products are available from independent stockist, B&Q and Homebase.
